Urban Sketchbook
my little book of sketches lives in the bottom of my handbag, dented, crumb-infested and wine-stained
This gallery brings together a series of sketches from towns, cities, and suburbs along the east coast of Australia. They’re raw excerpts from a small A6 leather-bound journal—unedited, unrefined, and quietly waiting for the chance to become something more. One day.

...a record of those everyday moments...the ordinary, the quirky, the invisible...
I have three different journals—one for work, one for play, and one for the road. The latter is my little book of sketches. It lives at the bottom of my handbag, crumb-infested and wine-stained, holding a record of those everyday moments—the invisible, ordinary, often overlooked scenes.
My old hometown of Newcastle was a constant source of inspiration, emerging from its industrial past as the ‘Steel City’ into a place now filled with street cafés and a creative harbour edge. Since moving to Murwillumbah, I’ve begun to gather moments from the surrounding Northern Rivers.
When I’m not in the studio, this is where you’ll find me—sitting in a café, a pub, or on the sand, watching people and noticing the small, quirky details that quietly appear in everyday life.
